Following April 2015’s devastating Eathquake in Nepal, the Kandoo Foundation wanted to take action to help rebuild infrastructure in some of the villages worst impacted. We got our chance in early 2016 through a very generous private donation that allowed us to build a school playground and related infrastructure in the remote village of Hongong.
In 2014 the Foundation invested in a water project in the rural village of Komela, near Kilimanjaro. The village had poor access to water which meant that villagers had to walk an hour each way to collect portable water. Kandoo worked with the community to install piping that now supplies clean water to over 50 families!
The heart and soul of our travel company, Kandoo Adventures, are our guide and porter crews. Central to our responsible travel ethos is making sure our guides and porters are fairly paid and treated. But at Kandoo we go even further and actively invest in the growth and development of our crews and in their livelihoods!
This year our awesome team in Peru, led by husband and wife couple Jose Luis and Zoraida, organised an amazing children's Christmas party for the entire village in their hometown, Lares Choquecancha. Here are some awesome
